Tha Tien Market

The Tha Tien neighborhood is full of character, where old Bangkok life still lingers in the rhythm of each day. Historic shophouses with carved wood details, tiled roofs, and faded pastel walls tell stories of the area’s trading roots.

Once a center for dried seafood merchants, Tha Tien was where goods flowed in from the Chao Phraya River, feeding the nearby markets and communities.

You can still feel this connection today—long-tail boats and the Chao Phraya Express Boat pass by with the same energy.

A stay at INN A DAY places you right in the heart of it all, surrounded by history, culture, and the charm of everyday local life.

Old Dried Fish Market

Once a bustling hub for dried seafood trading, the old dried fish market at Tha Tien tells stories of a neighborhood deeply connected to the river.

In the past, boats would dock here to deliver salted fish and local products from surrounding provinces. Though quieter now, the market’s walls and wooden beams still carry the scent of tradition.

Today, it coexists with cafes, galleries, and street food stalls—blending history with the rhythm of modern local life.

Chao Phraya Express Boat

Connecting the old town to the rest of Bangkok, the Chao Phraya Express Boat reflects how the river has always been a living, moving path of the city.

For decades, it’s been a favorite way for locals to commute—passing temples, markets, and wooden piers that have stood for generations.

As you board, surrounded by both residents and travelers, you’ll feel part of a flow that’s been moving for centuries.

Long-tail boat

A symbol of Bangkok’s river culture, the long-tail boat has long been part of daily life along the Chao Phraya.

These colorful boats were once the fastest way to travel across neighborhoods, transporting people, produce, and even monks on their morning rounds.

Now, they still cut through the river’s surface with energy and charm, offering guests a glimpse into a lifestyle that remains alive and deeply local.
